2016 has been a special year for Afrojack. In more than one way. The most defining factor might have been his switch in focus though. From bigger collaborations with superstar DJs like David Guetta and Sting (just to name a few) to the growth and nurturing of new talent. Although Afrojack has proven to be a highly successful producer for the greatest music artists on earth, he felt a strong urge to lay down a long-term basis for both himself and those talents who need it the most. Hence, a search for emerging artists through his own Wall Recordings.
When Nick started his own label almost a decennium ago, it was purely meant for his own releases. Nowadays, it has become a family and promoter for artists such as Rui, Oliver Rosa and Ambush. When asked which criteria Nick finds most important when scanning his surroundings for new talent the answer feels quite simple: Grit, motivation and belief. In themselves that is. “Simply being skilfull or talented is often not enough. When you’re determined to work for it and put in the often long, lonely hours, keeping developing yourself, you might succeed. I love to foster that kind of potential and I think I have a nag for discovering it.’
Check out - or should we say listen out? - what that sounds like here.
Afrojack might be touring around the globe, playing the biggest events in the world, but he’s determined to keep a close eye on the Dutch scene. Speaking of which..
